AC/DC Sensor: line or DC presence, made simple

The AC/DC Sensor is a two‑terminal, optically‑isolated detector that reports a logic HIGH to your Game Changer board when voltage is present across its input. It is non‑polarized (works with AC or DC) and shares the same snap‑in form as other SIMO.io modules.

TL;DR

Critical: The DIP switch selects low‑voltage mode (10–120 V). If the DIP is ON and you apply more than 120 V, the module will be permanently damaged. In normal mode (DIP OFF), do not exceed 300 V absolute maximum.

What it does

Modes and DIP switch

Normal mode — DIP OFF (default)
  • Detects 100–250 V AC or DC (50/60 Hz for AC).
  • Use this for mains presence sensing within the rated range.
  • Absolute maximum input: 300 V (do not exceed).
Low‑voltage mode — DIP ON
  • Detects 10–120 V AC or DC (50/60 Hz for AC).
  • For SELV/control circuits only. Never connect mains in this mode.
  • Absolute maximum input: 120 V (exceeding this will destroy the module).

FAQs

Will it detect DC without polarity?

Yes. The input is non‑polarized—either conductor can go to either terminal.

Can I sense mains and low voltage with the same unit?

Yes—select the correct mode with the DIP switch before energizing. Never apply more than 120 V when the DIP is ON (low‑voltage mode).

Does it work on 50 Hz and 60 Hz?

Yes. Both modes support 50/60 Hz AC.

Change the module, not your weekend

Every SIMO.io PCIe‑style module is field‑replaceable. Your logic is bound to the port—not to throwaway device IDs—so if a module ever fails or you’re upgrading, pull it off the rail, snap in the replacement, and you’re done. The Game Changer board provides the same signals over that PCIe port instantly, so scenes, schedules, and security rules stay intact. No re‑pairing. No reprogramming. No hunting through automations. Keep a small set of spares and restore full function in minutes. That’s professional serviceability by design.

SIMO.io — Smart Home Supremacy. Every module serves with quiet precision—ruled locally by The Game Changer board, commanded by your SIMO.io hub (local or virtual)—for protective, reliable, inevitable control.
