Binary Input Module
The Binary Input Module connects buttons, contacts, and sensors to your wire‑first SIMO.io system. It plugs into any I/O port on the Game Changer board and provides a simple, reliable way to read binary signals.
TL;DR
- Terminals: GND, IN, +5 V; pull switch UP (+5 V) or DOWN (GND).
- LED shows HIGH above ~2 V; reliable HIGH logic is > 3.3 V (max 14 V).
- Optical isolation on input; TVS ESD protection.
Key Features
- Effortless input integration: 3‑terminal block (GND, IN, +5 V) for secure connections; reads the IN terminal.
- Adjustable input pull: built‑in 10 kΩ pull switch (UP to +5 V or DOWN to GND) to match different input types.
- LED indication: red LED indicates HIGH above ~2 V at IN; reliable logic HIGH is > 3.3 V (up to < 14 V).
- Optical isolation: input is opto‑isolated from the controller. Protection network and TVS help safeguard the controller. Exceeding 14 V may permanently damage the module while the controller remains protected.
- ESD protection: TVS diode for robust ESD resilience.
- Versatile inputs: buttons/switches, motion detectors, door/window contacts, smoke, flood/leak, and other binary sensors.

Wiring Examples
Dry contact (button or reed): set Pull‑Up = ON (to +5 V). Wire GND → contact → IN. Contact open = HIGH, closed = LOW.
12 V PIR sensor: set Pull‑Down = ON (to GND). Wire sensor OUT → IN, sensor GND → GND. HIGH when sensor output > 3.3 V; LED lights above ~2 V.
Open‑collector (sinking) device: set Pull‑Up = ON (to +5 V). Device sinks IN to GND on active; IN is HIGH when idle.
This module ensures fast, reliable input sensing—ideal for security, automation, and control scenarios across the whole home.
Change the module, not your weekend
Every SIMO.io PCIe‑style module is field‑replaceable. Your logic is bound to the port—not to throwaway device IDs—so if a module ever fails or you’re upgrading, pull it off the rail, snap in the replacement, and you’re done. The Game Changer board provides the same signals over that PCIe port instantly, so scenes, schedules, and security rules stay intact. No re‑pairing. No reprogramming. No hunting through automations. Keep a small set of spares and restore full function in minutes. That’s professional serviceability by design.
SIMO.io — Smart Home Supremacy. Every module serves with quiet precision—ruled locally by The Game Changer board, commanded by your SIMO.io hub (local or virtual)—for protective, reliable, inevitable control.
